RegDefenseWhat Happens After Video ActiveX Error Object Installs on the PC?

This Video ActiveX Object is nothing but a Trojan that disguises itself as a video codec and forces you to download it in order to watch an online video. When you try to play the video, you are not allowed to do so without the fake codec and the error messages listed above display.

When you download this codec a Trojan is installed along with it. The Trojan starts displaying errors that your PC is infected with virus and spyware programs. These alerts are displayed to scare the user into buying a rogue anti-spyware software.

The risk level of the Video ActiveX error is high. After the ActiveX Video object downloads, it installs Security Toolbar 7.1 to Internet Explorer and changes your home page to asecurityassurance.com.

Warning: Please do not open asecurityassurance.com because it is a malicious Web site and may download infected software to your PC.

Some other related rogue sites that the Trojan is known to take your browser to are:

http://videosoftonline.com
http://ismymovies.com
http://www.tvsetmp3.com

Warning: You must NOT open these Web sites as well

In addition to above symptoms, you may also notice flashing icons in the system tray of your computer.
